Humbug? Scrooge Learns his Lesson!
November 11, 2013

Theatre of the Living Word
continues twenty-seven years of outstanding community drama by presenting the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Performed in the original English dialect, A Christmas Carol is a heartwarming story of personal transformation, and enduring hope.

Ebenezer Scrooge (AUDELCO Award-winner Fulton C. Hodges) is "a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner" who suddenly finds himself at a crossroads when visited by the ghost of his late partner, Jacob Marley (Rudolph Shaw). Scrooge is shocked to hear that a reckoning forthcoming, and that his unshared wealth will bring him no comfort.  He is taken on a journey throughout his misspent life, to re-learn the Spirit of Christmas--and to avoid a lonely grave.

Charles Dickens
wrote and published A Christmas Carol in early Victorian-Era Britain and it since has never been out of print. A morality play cleverly presented as a ghost story, it emphasizes the plight of the poor, and presents a critical view of 19th-century industrial capitalism. Dickens’ use of time-travel as a story element is innovative, and inspired many subsequent writers.

A Christmas Carol
is directed by Marlon Campbell, who also serves as narrator. The colorful, period costumes are designed by Susan Richards and Juliet Williams. Choreography is by Tiffany Mussenden, and the Technical Director is Lauren Campbell. Featured players include Benjamin Campbell, Diane Glover, Sade Trinitey Charles, Rhonie Lester, Wynrick Forde, Jeff Reid, Jacqueline Chang-Best, Sharon Toodles, Mary Greene, Joe Irving, Laird Jonas, Isaiah Farrell, Tremayne Francois, and Charles Hendricks.

Based at the Presbyterian Church of Saint Albans, Theatre of the Living Word began presenting plays to the community in the Spring of 1986. Our Senior Pastor is Rev. Dr. Edward Davis. Young people are involved in every aspect of TLW productions, both onstage and behind the scenes.

Performances December 6 th, 7 th, and 8th, and December 13 th, 14 th, and 15th (Friday & Saturdays at 7:30pm / Sundays at 3pm). Tickets are $20.
