Theatre of the Living Word celebrates twenty-one years of community
drama by presenting Frederick Knott’s classic thriller Wait Until Dark.
Set in the 1960’s, this spine-tingler follows three
killers as they launch a scheme against blind woman in an attempt to find a
smuggled doll filled with heroin. In the proceeding battle of the wits,
they are shocked to find that even without her sight, she is still fully armed.
Masterfully crafted by the author of Dial M for Murder, the suspense
steadily mounts as the web of lies draws tighter, culminating in an
edge-of-your-seat climactic sequence.
Wait Until Dark is
directed by TLW’s Executive Director Marlon Campbell, who also takes an
onstage turn as the leader of the band of criminals. Featured players include Tenaja
Thomas, TLW Associate Director
Pat Tomlinson, Jason Williams, Deanna Mungin, Salim Williams, David Williams, and
Vincent Cheatham.
Based at the Presbyterian Church of Saint Albans,
Theatre of the Living Word began presenting plays to the community in the Spring of 1986. The troupe’s Founder
and Director Emeritus is Millicent Jones, who, together with the Pastor,
Rev. Dr. Edward Davis, wanted to bring the excitement of live
performance to local audiences. Through the Saint Albans Multipurpose Community Center,
TLW has also trained many students in Theatre Arts. As always, young people are
involved in all aspects of this production, both onstage and behind-the-scenes.
Performances are Friday December 7th at
