Deacon Board

The Board of Deacons convenes once a month, the Saturday before Communion Sunday, to prepare the Holy Eucharist.  Spiritual matters and concerns are discussed at our business meeting, which follows our preparation.

The Deacons continue to meet their commitment of assisting the needy and administering spiritual and physical support to the sick, shut-in and the bereaved.  Telephone calls, visitations, greeting cards, monetary and floral contributions continue to be a vital part of the ministry of the Deacons.

On Father’s Day, the Deacons distribute gifts to widows, sick and convalescing members and friends.

Donations of floral arrangements, fruit baskets, monetary support, food, condolences as well as other services are a part of the Deacons’ ministry to the sick, needy and bereaved.

Thanksgiving baskets are distributed to the needy and friends in the community.

The Deacons assist in administering Communion along with the Elders on Communion Sundays.

Funds are donated by the Deacons to individuals in their time of extreme hardship.

The Deacons host the Share Food Program and assists in the distribution and delivery of food packages to church members and friends.

The Deacon Board would not be able to continue to ministry without the generous contributions of the church members and friends of the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans.  The Deacon Board gives thanks to our church family for their continued support and help in allowing us to fulfill our commitment to serve God’s people, as is prescribed by the word.

“Let us therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find the grace to help."
