"To be spiritually
minded is life and peace." Romans 8:6
Mission Statement
The mission of the "Senior Action Ministry" of the
Presbyterian Church of St. Albans, under the auspices of Reverend
Edward Davis, Pastor is to be spiritual, progressive, positive,
informative, motivating, educational and above all stimulating to
the young, as well as the seniors. We are being lead by the power of
the Holy Spirit within us.
Purpose
The entire purpose of every ministry is to build up the whole
people of God in faith, hope and love for more effective service in
the world. We help each other.
During
our short beginning, we have been blessed with a speaker from our
community, Dr. Samuel Murray, a retired administrator from the New
York City Fire Department. He provided us with information on fire
prevention in the home. Also, "What is Carbon Monoxide?" It was an
interesting and stimulating discussion.
Dr. Murray is also an author. He wrote a book called, "Run
Sam Run" that tells about his life experience in the south and
elsewhere and why education is so very important.
Councilman Leroy Comrie's office of the 27th Council District
of Queens provided pertinent informational materials for the group
pertaining to issues affecting our daily lives, positive and
negative.
State Senator Malcolm Smith has committed himself to be our
guest speaker on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 10:30 am. We invite
all seniors to come out and support him and let him answer questions
you might want answers to.
Our
Goals for 2005
- Developing
linkage with other churches and community ministries and
serving organizations as deemed appropriate.
- Information
sharing--especially as it pertains to issues affecting the
lives of seniors.
- Inviting human
resources on all levels to speak with us.
