"...But
Jesus said, let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for
to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew
19: 14
Because we know that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the
youth as well, we the leaders of the Youth for Christ try not to
hinder them in any way from getting there. From January to December
we were all traveling that Highway to Heaven.
In 2004, we went on retreats, to camps, amusement parks, and
ministry events and more. We fellowshipped with new churches such as
Siloam Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Far
Rockaway and Memorial Presbyterian Church, while we continued
relationships with old friends like First Presbyterian Church of
Jamaica and Dunton Presbyterian.
The Gospel Soul Cafe was launched in July 2004. This was a
vision of Minister Ford and the brainchild of Director Emery Jones.
The Cafe brings youth and adults from the community together with
congregants from churches that span from Apostolic to Baptist, with
Presbyterians in the middle.
In 2005, members of YFC will also be traveling to Italy to
take part in a choir competition. We are looking forward to this
wonderful opportunity to go overseas and minister the Word of God in
song. To prepare for this momentous occasion we had a car wash, food
sales and took up collections from the congregation.
We believe the best is yet to come!
